Helen Riley’s excellent article in “Family Relationships Quarterly”
Here’s an email from Helen Riley regarding her excellent article on Late Discovery:
Hi all,
My article on the ethical implications of the late discovery of adoptive status was recently published in Family Relationships Quarterly (on-line). I have attached a PDF and included the URL below. I thought I would send it around – please don’t hesitate to forward on if you know anyone who might be interested.

I discovered I was adopted just 2 months after my 40th birthday. What a rollercoaster of emotions, some times I still feel angry about it, most times I am at peace with it. I have regular weekly contact with my birth mother, and we visit each other for holidays. What an education in what aspects of myself are hereditary and what are learned. I would like to talk to people who want to discuss their experiences also. I would also like to help anyone who is at the beginning stages of the experience and try to help them through their emotions.
